The death of CRISPR; long live endogenous RNAi

…there are currently few genetic arguments for the necessity of correcting the genetic material of future generations given preimplantation diagnosis of monogenic conditions.

Nobody wants to belong to the party of losers. One of the best strategies in such a case is evidently an interpretation of the change as a gradual accumulation of knowledge while their work has always been at the cutting edge. — Kalevi Kull

Erwin Schrödinger was probably right when concluding that quantum physics will not provide much for understanding life. However, semiotics via its fundamental contribution to epistemology might be helpful in understanding the relationships between the models and the modeled, including in quantum physics.
Kalevi Kull is wrong, again. Serious scientists have since linked quantized energy-dependent changes from angstroms to ecosystems in all living genera to support Schrödinger’s claim about the sun’s anti-entropic energy in “What is Life?” (1944)
Virus-driven energy theft has also been linked to all pathology.
Et tu, Kalevi?—Science Mafia Hits AgainKull distorts the history of science to protect the Academy’s reputation.
The number of people willing to continue to distort the history of science will be exposed as the primary cause of all unnecessary suffering and premature death that has been caused by virus-driven energy theft since the time that neo-Darwinian theories were invented by pseudoscientists.

So if it turns out that a flow of information from experience to inheritance provides more variation for natural selection to work on, Darwin was right again.
Darwin knew his “conditions of life” must link the flow of energy as information from sunlight and experience to natural selection for energy-dependent codon optimality and the transgenerational epigenetic inheritance of all morphological and behavioral phenotypes in all living genera.
He did not know that he knew this, but he was not biologically uninformed. Only biologically uninformed theorists suggested that natural selection could be placed before “conditions of life.”
They made ridiculous suggestions to consistently misrepresent everything known to everyone who ever believed in creationism. Oddly, only the views of creationists have been validated by experimental evidence of biophysically constrained biologically-based cause and effect, which starts with the de novo creation of nucleic acid precursors and RNA.
Anyone who starts with the creation of new genes and links them from mutations to evolution is a fool. The fools have been successful via their ability to convince other fools that theories are more important that Darwin’s facts about God’s “conditions of life.”
For God’s sake, and the sake of your children see the molecular epigenetics section of our 1996 Hormones and Behavior review. “From Fertilization to Adult Sexual Behavior” The facts about RNA-mediated cell type differentiation haven’t changed since they established the conditions for the origins of life on Earth before the facts were linked to all biodiversity via the physiology of reproduction and adult sexual behavior.See also: My reply to a comment by Thomas Johnson:
More than 60,000 articles indexed on PubMed have linked energy-dependent changes in the microRNA/messenger RNA balance to healthy longevity or from virus-driven energy theft to all pathology. Darwin’s tiny parcels (“gemmules”) are obviously the microRNAs that link chirality and autophagy from the sun’s anti-entropic virucidal energy to the physiology of reproduction in all living genera via conserved molecular mechanisms that must link angstroms to ecosystems via hydrogen-atom transfer in DNA base pairs in solution to supercoiled DNA.

…despite being a leading Australian university in professional health and biomedical sciences, La Trobe does not have a medical school.
La Trobe has lost funding disproporionately across its departments. For instance, the History Department at the university was once by far the largest of any institution in Australia; however, funding restrictions have led to a significant reduction in its size. Similarly, in 1999, the Music Department was closed due to funding cuts; in 2004 the Geology Department was excised even though it had the highest graduate satisfaction rating in the country. The university’s African Research Institute, the only major African studies centre in Australasia, was closed at the end of 2006.[26] In 2008, the university cut the Philosophy and Religious Studies Program at the Bendigo campus, the change resulted in the stream only being taught as a minor.
In 2008, La Trobe was operating with a $1.46 million surplus but has highlighted that by 2010 it will “review, and where appropriate, restructure all academic, administrative and committee structures”[27] to deal with diminished student intakes, falling entrance marks, below-par scores on student satisfaction surveys and a decreasing proportion of national research funding.[25][28] In an attempt to address these issues, the university is making cut backs and restructuring several courses under the direction of the vice-chancellor, John Dewar.[25][28] As of 2013, the university is operating on a 28 million dollar surplus[29]
Do I dare say that if La Trobe was located in the United States of America, the University would close — after ridicule by serious scientists who have linked energy-dependent differences in microRNAs to all biodiversity via what is known about supercoiled DNA and the nutrient-dependent physiology of reproduction in all living genera. Instead, Latrobe and other centers of lower education in Australia and New Zealand appear to be establishing the basis for the start of the next viral pandemic. Will it be worse than the 1918 Spanish flu, or the virus-driven pathology that caused the death of 90% of the indigenous populations in North and South America soon after the arrival of the Europeans?
Will the virus-driven energy theft that is causing the destruction of the Great Barrier Reef cause the preventable suffering and death of billions throughout the world? Perhaps not, but see: Combating Evolution to Fight Disease.
The Rosenberg lab and the Zechiedrich lab at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, seem much more likely to be the source of scientific advances than anyone who is left hanging on to their ridiculous theories at LaTrobe or elsewhere.

Why hasn’t government funding of Cori Bargmann’s work already helped?
See for comparison: Endogenous RNAi Pathways Are Required in Neurons for Dauer Formation in Caenorhabditis elegans
Our data presented here suggest the intriguing possibility that RNAi pathways may mediate distinct effects on gene expression in postdauer animals that experienced different environmental stresses. Since other animals, such as pea aphids, form polyphenisms due to crowding or starvation as well, we predict that this work may have broader implications for the RNAi-mediated regulation phenotypic plasticity. The data refute every aspect of neo-Darwinian pseudoscientific nonsense via an example in one of the most studied model organisms that links food odors and pheromones from the physiology of reproduction to all biophysically constrained energy-dependent biodiversity.
on the Figshare preprint server.Abstract excerpt:This atoms to ecosystems model of ecological adaptations links nutrient-dependent epigenetic effects on base pairs and amino acid substitutions to pheromone-controlled changes in the microRNA / messenger RNA balance and chromosomal rearrangements. The nutrient-dependent pheromone-controlled changes are required for the thermodynamic regulation of intracellular signaling, which enables biophysically constrained nutrient-dependent protein folding; experience-dependent receptor-mediated behaviors, and organism-level thermoregulation in ever-changing ecological niches and social niches. Nutrient-dependent pheromone-controlled ecological, social, neurogenic and socio-cognitive niche construction are manifested in increasing organismal complexity in species from microbes to man.
