DS Wilson’s view of biophysically constrained life (1)

I am encouraged by the fact he included chapters on Evolution in Warp Drive and Adapting to Change. He may address Darwin’s claims about the “conditions of life” and link what is known to serious scientists about the light-activated assembly of the microRNA-RNA-peptide nanocomplex to the weekend resurrection of the bacterial flagellum, the physiology of pheromone-controlled reproduction in species from microbes to mammals, and the sudden appearance of flowering plants in the fossil record.
But, I doubt it.
See in advance for comparison:
IV. Natural Selection; or the Survival of the Fittest Difficulties of the Theory

“IF under changing conditions of life…”

V. Laws of Variation: Effects of the Increased Use and Disuse of Parts, as Controlled by Natural Selection

“…variability is generally related to the conditions of life to which each species has been exposed during several successive generations.”

VI. Difficulties of the Theory: Difficulties of the Theory of Descent with Modification

“…allied species are descended from a common parent; and during the process of modification, each has become adapted to the conditions of life of its own region…”

The meaning of Darwin’s ‘abominable mystery’ (2009)

Darwin’s abominable mystery is about his abhorrence that evolution could be both rapid and potentially even saltational. Throughout the last years of his life, it just so happens that flowering plants, among all groups of organisms, presented Darwin with the most extreme exception to his strongly held notion natura non facit saltum, nature does not make a leap.

Evolutionary resurrection of flagellar motility via rewiring of the nitrogen regulation system (2015)

Our results demonstrate that natural selection can rapidly rewire regulatory networks in very few, repeatable mutational steps.

It is likely that every claim ever made by DS Wilson will come back to haunt him now that Darwin’s energy-dependent “conditions of life” have been linked to the light-activated assembly of the microRNA-RNA-peptide nanocomplex and the physiology of pheromone-controlled reproduction in species from microbes to humans.
