The 2019 Nobel Prize in Physics – Tuesday 8 October
The 2019 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine was awarded to researchers who linked God’s Creation of sunlight and water from photosynthesis and the creation of oxygen to biophysically constrained viral latency and polycombic ecological adaptations in morphology and behavior via the physiology of reproduction in all living genera.

Moving forward: If the Prize for physics is awarded fairly, it will be shared by George FR Ellis and Wen Zhou for works that link the Creation of energy from top-down causation to the light-activated assembly of the microRNA-RNA-peptide nanocomplex (aka the polycomb repressive complex) in the context of what is known about how Olfaction Warps Visual Time Perception.

…there must be top-down realization of higher level processes (Noble, 2012, 2016; Ellis, 2016; Flack, 2017), enabling same level causation at each level (Noble, 2012) and closure of constraints (Mossio and Moreno, 2010; Montévil and Mossio, 2015), with processes thereby generating their own constraints with a mutual dependence such that they both depend on and contribute to maintaining each other.

• This is all enabled by information flows (Nurse, 2008) and associated cell signaling (Berridge, 2014).

• Adaptation to context is taking place all the time at all levels of the hierarchy through variation and selection (Ellis, 2016; Solms and Friston, 2018)

Natural selection for energy-dependent codon optimality biophysically constrains the nutrient-dependent pheromone-controlled physiology of reproduction in species from microbes to humans. The links from ecological variation to ecological adaptation were detailed in:  Olfaction Warps Visual Time Perception 3/17/17
Simply put, the energy-dependent Creation of the sense of smell was linked to ecological adaptations across kingdoms via the physiology of reproduction and our visual perception of energy and mass across the time-space continuum, which is warped by olfaction.
The most obvious links from olfaction to the warped time-space continuum occur in the context of virus-driven neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer’s. The loss of olfactory and acuity lead from the failure to recognize and/or remember the facts of everyday life to the failure to recognize friends and relatives or the failure to recognize them in the context of what might otherwise be effects of hormones that affect behavior.
That fact was placed into the proper context in 2001 and 2002 by these two review articles:
Human pheromones: integrating neuroendocrinology and ethology

The effect of sensory input on hormones is essential to any explanation of mammalian behavior, including aspects of physical attraction. The chemical signals we send have direct and developmental effects on hormone levels in other people. Since we don t know either if, or how, visual cues might have direct and developmental effects on hormone levels in other people, the biological basis for the development of visually perceived human physical attraction is currently somewhat questionable. In contrast, the biological basis for the development of physical attraction based on chemical signals is well detailed.

Comparative approaches in evolutionary psychology: molecular neuroscience meets the mind

Evolutionary psychologists often overlook a wealth of information existing between the proximate genotypic level and the ultimate phenotypic level. This commonly ignored level of biological organization is the ongoing activity of neurobiological systems. In this paper, we extend our previous arguments concerning strategic weaknesses of evolutionary psychology by advocating a foundational view that focuses on similarities in brain, behavior, and various basic psychological features across mammalian species. Such an approach offers the potential to link the emerging discipline of evolutionary psychology to its parent scientific disciplines such as biochemistry, physiology, molecular genetics, developmental biology and the neuroscientific analysis of animal behavior. We detail an example of this through our impending work using gene microarray technology to characterize gene expression patterns in rats during aggressive and playful social interactions. Through a focus on functional homologies and the experimental analysis of conserved, subcortical emotional and motivational brain systems, neuroevolutionary psychobiology can reveal ancient features of the human mind that are still shared with other animals. Claims regarding evolved, uniquely human, psychological constructs should be constrained by the rigorous evidentiary standards that are routine in other sciences.

When Nobel Prizes are awarded for claims linked to the evolution of morphological and behavioral phenotpes, they are too likely to be awarded to biologically uninformed science idiots who have failed to link physics and chemistry from molecular epigenetics to all biodiversity on Earth via the physiology of reproduction. That could lead to the epic failure of the Nobel Prizes to link anything known to serious scientists to biophysically constrained viral latency and the cure for all pathology.
