Even if the behaviors exhibited by reconfigurable organisms are currently rudimentary, such as those shown in past (10) and this current work, AI design methods have been shown to be capable of exploiting this flexibility to exaggerate these behaviors and, in future, possibly guide them toward more useful forms.

Summary: AI researchers finally abandoned stupid theories about natural selection for mutations and evolution across billions to millions of years. They continue to report new claims about design as if no energy was required to link the design to useful forms of life that reproduce. This is called “baffling you with BS.” And, as always, they believe you will believe in BS. Indeed, many people believe that energy “emerged” from the cosmic void, but fewer will believe that robots can reproduce without it.
