Evolutionary theorists have bastardized that claim since the turn of the 20th century, which is when Thomas Hunt Morgan linked food energy-dependent pheromone-regulated genetic processes of sympatric speciation in flies from chromosomal rearrangements to protection from viruses across kingdoms via Medelian genetics and Darwin’s “conditions of life.”
